More than 3700 planets have now been detected which orbit other stars than our own. This cigar-shaped asteroid probably originates from such a different solar system. It was discovered a few months ago at an observatory on Hawaii, and its path and motion strongly suggests that it is not a member of our solar system but has wandered in from interstellar space. It was named ʻOumuamua, which is Hawaiian for scout.

Somewhere there may exist other intelligent beings who also believe in Santa Claus...
